Macy's Boynton Beach partners with Taste History to host private reception for Jewish synagogue Temple Sinai

Macy's Boynton Beach, Florida celebrated the Jewish synagogue Temple Sinai of Delray Beach with a private reception and shopping on Sunday, April 28, 2013.  They were welcomed by Macy's Vice President/General Manager David Green.

More than 60 members of Temple Sinai and its Sisterhood were treated to a continental breakfast, beauty makeovers, fashion and Dior perfume presentations.

David Green, Vice President/General Manager-Macy's; Andrea Goldberg, Co-Chairperson for the Sisterhood at Temple Sinai; Rosanne Popkin, Co-President of the Sisterhood at Temple Sinai and Lori J. Durante, Executive Tour Director of the Taste History Culinary Tours at Macy's Boynton Beach on Sunday, April 28, 2013.

The non-profit Taste History Culinary Tours was invited to partner with Macy's Boynton Beach for this program because the history of the Jewish synagogues is featured on the culinary tour. The Jewish migration to Delray Beach began in the 1970s with Jewish people from the Northeastern United States retiring to the communities of King's Point and High Point in the western (suburban) part of Delray Beach. Upon their settlement in Delray Beach there were no synagogues in the immediate area thus they initially used the parish halls at the historic St. Paul's Episcopal Church and Cason United Methodist Church both in Delray Beach from 1977 to 1986. In 1986 Temple Sinai moved into its own freestanding building on West Atlantic Avenue in  the City of Delray Beach. Preceding Temple Sinai was Temple Emeth which re-located its services from Cason United Methodist Church to its own building in suburban Delray Beach.

Boris and Edith Rueger were the two longest supporters of this non-profit tour program. The Ruegers were also loyal members of Temple Sinai. They passed away in 2009 and 2010, respectively and left a bequest for the tour program.  Macy's is also the featured sponsor of the Taste History Culinary Tours.  This gastronome tour travels to eateries for food tastings intertwined with narrated Florida history and visits to historic buildings and art galleries.

The Macy's team organized an enjoyable morning of beauty, fashion and food.  Floral arrangements were designed by The Boca Flower Stand.
