Social Directors of Country Clubs soaked up the food, art and history in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach

Summertime was a very good summer and the season was finalized to usher in Fall by hosting a private Taste History Culinary Tour of Historic Delray Beach and Boynton Beach for Social Directors of Country Clubs.
The Taste History Culinary Tour rode, walked and glided through the historic districts in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach emphasizing a taste of their foods, art, culture and history.

The Social Directors learned about Viva Florida which celebrates more than 500 years since the arrival of Spaniard explorer Juan Ponce de Leon who named the land Pascua de Florida or La Florida (Land of the Flowers).  Upon his arrival, numerous Native American tribes were already living in the area.

The Social Directors savored the tastes in more than five unique districts that include West Settlers, Historic NW/SW 5th Avenue, Downtown Delray Beach, Pineapple Grove Arts District and Boynton Beach's Ocean Avenue which is also the Avenue of the Arts.  Taste History also featured history about the "Michigan Connection" in Delray Beach and Boynton Beach along with the contributions of early Bahamian and German settlers.
Macy's, which is famous for its culinary department, is the presenting sponsor of the non-profit Taste History Culinary Tours.

Take a view of the photos from this lively cultural epicurean excursion.

In 1950, Boca Raton had a population of less than 1000. The library was the cultural center of the community. Community members began an "Open House," to exhibit their individual arts and crafts accomplishments. In 1951, the Art Guild of Boca Raton was organized and later incorporated on December 12, 1954.In 1960, five adjacent lots were purchased on West Palmetto Park Road. Construction began in 1962 and, in the fall of that year, 12 years from it's founding, the Art Guild dedicated its first home. Because of a pressing need for studio space, due to the growth of its classes, a building committee was created in 1968. On March 29, 1969, the Studio Building was dedicated. Since 1969, the growth of the Art Guild has taken many different directions. The Exhibiting Artists Guild, known as the P.A.G. or Professional Artists Guild, was formed.
