The Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History welcomed Carli Smith of the Palm Beach County Convention & Visitors Bureau. She traveled along on the sold-out December 19, 2011 Taste History Culinary Tour of Historic Delray Beach & Boynton Beach, Florida.
This December tour traveled to four eateries (Donnie's Southern Restaurant, Sefa Turkish Mediterranean Grill, GOL! The Taste of Brazil and Hurricane Alley), plus a historic bed and breakfast in Delray Beach, the Urban Garden in Downtown Boynton Beach as well as Boynton's Ocean Avenue Arts Walk District.
Tour guests were transported via bus and by foot for narrated history with a live guide and food tastings in historic West Settlers, Frog Alley, the Pineaple Grove Arts District, Downtown Delray Beach, historic Ocean Avenue in Boynton Beach and Downtown Boynton Beach, FL.
Four Soul Food cuisines were served at Donnie's Southern Restaurant in Delray Beach, Florida during the Taste History Culinary Tour. The term "Soul Food" was coined in the 1960s.

Made-from-scratch cornbread at Donnie's Southern Restaurant in Downtown Delray beach. Cornbread is made from cornmeal. Cornmeal is produced from the grinding of raw corn grains. Many various uses of corn came from Native Americans who introduced corn to the European colonists and their African slaves who settled in southern English Colonies.
The purpose of the Taste History Culinary Tour is to provide a culturally enriching experience that infuses the local lifestyle history of early settlers, farming facts, tours of neighborhoods, as well as art and educational information about historic architecture that includes visits to restaurants in historic districts and/or buildings for food tastings. The culinary tastings includes specifics about food history, food culture and foodways.

The tomato was introduced in the early 16th century to Europe by the Spanish. The Italians and Spanish were among the first to use the tomato as food. Europeans brought Tomatos to Europe. USA President Thomas Jefferson raised them on his plantation Monticello in year 1781. Then in 1812, the tomato was used as food in Louisiana and spread to northeastern states with use as food in 1835. The Tomato reached widespread popularity in the United States in the early 20th Century.

Effective April 1, 2013, $40 per person is the new rate for the general public tours. Due to the increase in fees that are charged to our organization for the tour bus rental and insurance; an increase in our tour fees is necessary. Pre-paid reservations that have been made prior to that date will not be effected. The Taste History Culinary Tours program is operated by a non-profit 501c3 organization and run by non-paid volunteers.
