The historic Town of Lantana and City of Lake Worth were center stage on a Taste History Culinary Tour hosted for members of the Mirasol Country Club. This was an encore trip for Mirasol that moved its way through a tasty journey of food eating, history learning and art viewing.
The Town of Lantana was established in 1889 by Mr. M.B. Lyman of Lambton County, Ontario, Canada who is considered the father of Lantana because he originally named the area Lantana Point after the wild flower that once grew in the area. Mr. Lyman was the first Postmaster for Lantana and operated a hotel from his home in Lantana; and he created a chain of general stores with some including Seminole Indian Trading posts.
Following the tour in Lantana, the trip made its way to Lake Worth which was incorporated over a hundred years ago in 1913 where its population grew to include Bahamians and people from Finland. The City of Lake Worth currently has a pronounced art scene celebrating local and emerging artists.
The November 11, 2014 tour traveled to Judy's Cheese & Wine Café, Sabal Palm House Bed & Breakfast, South Shores Tavern & Pub, The Java Juice Bar, Suri Tapas Bar, Hoffman's Chocolates, the historic Osborne Schoolhouse, Artists of the Avenue Gallery, Rolando Chang Barrero Fine Art Gallery and Bruce Webber Art Shop & Gallery. More than 10 different cuisines were tasted.
