Lake Worth Farmer's Market and Mother Earth's Veggie Burgers on Food Tour

On Saturday, December 8, 2012, the Taste History Culinary Tour traveled to historic Lake Worth and Lantana, Florida.  The food eating experience included a visit to the Sugarcane Lady at the Lake Worth's Oceanside Farmer's Market which is situated right along the Lake Worth Lagoon.  The culinary tour also made its way to Mother's Earth Cafe which specializes in organic foods.  The featured cusine  at Mother Earth was their yamburger and black bean burger served with  housemade cilantro sauce and bread pudding.
 
The Taste History tour also traveled to The Mango Inn Bed & Breakfast for their famed mango-infused French Toast.  Then, the tour arrived at South Shores Tavern for bites of their gourmet portobello mushroom bruschetta. And, the tour guests strolled thru downtown Lake Worth to the Java Juice Bar for organic smoothies. Following the Juice Bar, the guests took a bus ride to the Tortilleria for tortillas. The tour guests also viewed locally created art work at the Lake Worth Art League Gallery; and the Clay Glass Metal Stone Gallery both in the LULA Arts District of Downtown Lake Worth, Florida.  In the Town of Lantana, the Taste History tour guests were treated to beef stroganoff at George's Meat Market.

From 1941 - 1949 John "Jack" Thomas Barton lived in the home.  Barton was Mayor of Lake Worth and  for 7 years served as publisher of the Lake Worth Herald, the oldest business and newspaper in the City.

Due to the exceeding popularity of the non-profit Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Palm Beach County, the first seven-months sold-out. To meet the demand for the culinary tours, more dates have been added with the tours being expanded to consist of food samplings in historic Lake Worth including Lantana in Palm Beach County, Florida. Therefore, the tours are held at 11am year-round on the second, third and fourth Saturdays of each month, plus private group tours are offered. The Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Delray Beach & Boynton Beach, Florida is offered on the third and fourth Saturdays of each month. And, Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Lake Worth & Lantana is held on the second Saturday of each month, year-round, effective April 14, 2012.
The non-profit Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Palm Beach County includes family-owned and locally-operated eateries, markets and urban farms in historic Delray Beach, Boynton Beach, Lake Worth and Lantana plus exclusive discounts at Macy’s are provided specifically for the guests on the Taste History Culinary Tour. The Taste History Culinary Tours are the first food tours of its style in Palm Beach County and are conducted by the Museum of Lifestyle & Fashion History (MLFH) which is a non-profit 501c3 organization. These food tours include a live guide and are 4-hours with a combination of bus riding and 4 to 6 blocks of walking tour with visits to at least 3 to 4 restaurants/eateries/cultural sites for cuisine tastings along with visiting historic districts, buildings and art galleries. There are now more 30 restaurant/food partners for the culinary tour that are visited on a rotating alternate schedule which means different eateries are visited each tour. Private group tours are also available.

The culinary tours are small-format with the average capacity for the tours being 15 to 20 people. The tour cannot accommodate dietary restrictions.
Effective April 1, 2013, $40 per person is the new rate for the general public tours. Due to the increase in fees that are charged to our organization for the tour bus rental and insurance; an increase in our tour fees is necessary. Pre-paid reservations that have been made prior to that date will not be effected. The Taste History Culinary Tours program is operated by a non-profit 501c3 organization.

Culture Club treated to moveable eats and tour of Boynton's Industrial Arts District


During the Winter holiday season, the Culture & Beyond  Club of Hunter's Run Country Club in Boynton Beach was treated to a  moveable meal on the Taste History Culinary Tour of Historic Delray Beach & Boynton Beach, Florida.

The Culture & Beyond Club's edible indulgence on Taste History consisted of seafood at Hurricane Alley Raw Bar & Restaurant; chicken and dumplings at The Little House; Neapolitan pizza at Scuola Vecchia; soul food at Donnie's Southern Restaurant; tastings at Du20's Organic Tea Bar; and Turkish cuisine at Sefa with a finale tour of Boynton's Industrial Arts District.

A four-cuisine tasting was prepared for the Taste History Tour visit to Hurricane Alley & Raw Bar in Downtown Boynton Beach, Florida

Hurricane Alley Raw Bar & Restaurant is positioned in the heart of Downtown Boynton Beach, Florida.  The popular eatery occupies a  circa 1919-1923 historic building known as the Harvey Oyer, Jr. building.  Oyer opened the first insurance agency in Boynton Beach.

Taste History visited another Downtown Boynton Beach landmark - The Little House restaurant which operates from the historic Ruth Jones Cottage (circa 1940).

Comfort food - chicken and dumplings at The Little House restaurant was the hearty eats for the Taste History Tour guests.

Celebrated Chef Chrissy Benoit of The Little House created watermelon sangria for the Taste History Tour visit hosted for the Culture Club.

The Boynton Beach Arts District was an eclectic experience for the Taste History Tour hosted for the Culture Club.

The Taste History Tour guests received a welcome from Rolando Chango Barrero of the Boynton Beach Arts District.

Rolando Chang Barrero is the artist who reinvigorated the Boynton Beach Neighborhood of the Arts (aka Boynton Beach Arts District or Boynton's Industrial Arts District). The District allows for freewheeling artistic expression.  The neighborhood received its  official art designation in 1986 by the City of Boynton Beach.

The stone oven from Naples, Italy at Scuola Vecchia in Downtown Delray Beach, Florida. Scuola Vecchia is certified by the Neapolitan Pizzeria Association thus all pizzas must be cooked using a stone oven from Naples, Italy.

Pizza fit for a queen.  The Pizza Margherita is named in honor of Queen Margherita of Italy.  The pizza was created in 1889 to honor her visit to Naples, Italy.

Six-cusine tastings at Sefa Mediterrean Grill in the Pineapple Grove Arts District in Downtown Delray Beach, Florida.  Sefa specializes in gourmet Turkish cuisine.  Much of the distinct Turkish flavors evolved during the Ottoman Empire and is known as Levantine cuisine. Levant refers to Turkey's geographic location in the eastern Mediterranean.

Chef Numan Unsal of Sefa Mediterrean Grill which also specializes in Turkish wine.  The Taste History Culinary Tour received tastings of the Turkish wine.
