Taste History ranked in Florida's 10 Best by The Culture Trip

The international news agency The Culture Trip has included the Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Palm Beach County in its roundup of Florida's 10 Best Food Festivals and Fiestas. Taste History landed in good company and is ranked with the Food Network South Beach Food & Wine Festival.  The Culture Trip is a global online news agency, showcasing the best of art, food, culture and travel for every country in the world. On the second, third and fourth Saturdays of each month the Taste History Culinary Tours delivers an engaging taste of the cuisine, culture, art and history of the main streets and historic districts in Lake Worth and Lantana; and Delray Beach and Boynton Beach. Each tour visits at least three to four restaurants for hearty food tastings along with trips to historic districts, historic buildings, art districts and art galleries.

“The recognition by The Culture Trip is truly a blessing because it helps to increase awareness about the non-profit mission of the Taste History Culinary Tours with offering a program filled with food tastings, history, art and culture where people learn about the foodscape and landscape of the area,” says Lori J. Durante, Executive Tour Director who developed the Taste History Culinary Tours.

Here's what The Culture Trip wrote:

With its year-round tropical climate Florida produces a plethora of fresh fruit and vegetables, while its position next to the Gulf of Mexico and Atlantic Ocean make it perfect for daily seafood catches. Lovers of food are taking advantage of what Florida has to offer with many food festivals taking place each year. Here are ten of the best...

One of the Taste History Culinary Tour featured partners is Cabana El Rey located in Downtown Delray Beach, Florida. Their tastings feature authentic cuisines of the Country Spain and Latin America along with new culinary infusions. In year 1513 Spaniard explorer Juan Ponce de Leon arrived on land that he named Pascua de Florida (Land of the Flowers). Other Spaniard explorers arrived in Florida and brought with them their culture, religion and Spanish cuisines too.  The State of Florida launched the celebration of that 500th anniversary of the arrival of Ponce de Leon in year 2013 which was coined Viva Florida.  The non-profit Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Palm Beach County, Florida has been designated one of the official community event partners for the State of Florida’s Viva Florida initiative.

Suri Tapas Bar was Super on Food Tour. Hoffman's Chocolates added Sweetness as newest Tour Partner. Lake Worth A-Wall Murals featured.

The Taste History Culinary Tours of Historic Palm Beach County held on August 9, 2014 had a super time as it made its way to Lake Worth and Lantana, Florida.

The sold-out tour visited old favorites while inaugurating two new partners Suri Tapas Bar and Hoffman's Chocolates both in Downtown Lake Worth.

Tapas was on top at Suri Tapas Bar in Downtown Lake Worth for the Taste History Culinary Tour
Suri's chef John Kuropatwa worked his culinary magic with a delectable tapas tasting. He says "They are stuffed figs! We take goat cheese roll it in pistachios and stuff the figs with that and then wrap them in prosciutto, grill them and place them on top of a house made fig jam and finish it off with a fig ensued balsamic reduction."
The origin of tapas cuisine is tied to the Andalusia region of Spain and the word means appetizer or small plates.

Five chocolate dessert tastings at Hoffman's Chocolates in Downtown Lake Worth for the Taste History Culinary Tour.

Following the Suri Tapas Bar, the tour was hosted at Hoffman's Chocolates in Downtown Lake Worth.  Established in 1975, Hoffman's is Palm Beach County's very own chocolate factory which opened its current store front and ice cream parlor in the heart of Downtown, Lake Worth on Lake Avenue. They returned to their roots with re-opening this shop last year in Lake Worth.

The Taste History tour's mission is to feature food tastings with history learning and art viewing.  In Lake Worth, former slaves Samuel and Fannie James were the first pioneers homesteading in 1887 on land they purchased through the Homestead Act.  Fannie James established the first Post Office n Lake Worth naming the area Jewel, pre-dating the Lake Worth's incorporation in 1913.  The Town of Lantana was settled around the same time too in 1889 with Mr. M.B. Lyman of Lambton County, Ontario who acquired land through the Armed Occupation Act.  Mr. Lyman set-up the first Post Office in the area and originally named it Lantana Point because the Lantana flower was growing wild in the area, at that time.

Both Lake Worth and Lantana have eateries with localized tastings.  On this day, Taste History also traveled to the Sabal Palm House Bed & Breakfast for tea and scones; Mother Earth Sanctuary CafĂ© for vegan cuisines; South Shores Tavern and Patio Bar for steak and nachos appetizer; the Java Juice Bar for smoothies; Brogues Down Under for sausage rolls and Pavlova Pie; Lake Worth Art League Gallery, Artisans of the Ave Gallery, the A-Wall Murals, the LULA Arts District and the Cheese & Wine CafĂ© for the gourmet rice bowl and French coffee.
The Going A-Wall Murals project was organized by Bruce Webber Gallery in Downtown Lake Worth and features murals by artists Trek Six and Ruben Ubiera.
